Isaiah describes the people of Israel as “a seed of evil doers.” God had intended that the descendants of Abraham would be a righteous people, bringing blessings to the world through their example of holiness. Unfortunately, Israel had produced one generation after another of ungodly people. In this message, Fr. Toms demonstrates that we are all the seed of evil doers. Ever since the fall of Adam, we have inherited an inclination to do that which is evil in the sight of God. We are born with corrupt natures with no desire to do that which is pleasing to God. Not only are we sinners by nature. We are also sinners by choice. We are not forced to do what is evil. We very willingly yield to sin because we love it so much. God holds us personally responsible for the evil we have done. Nevertheless, God has provided a way that we can be given a new heart and a new spirit, making us a people who desire to glorify and obey God. By believing in Jesus Christ, we can be born again, thus becoming, a godly seed.
